DIY Football Field Table Runner

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, MARS. All opinions are mine alone. #ScoreAtCVS #CollectiveBias Football season is now well underway, and I need to get ready to host a whole lotta football fans.  My hubby already has his man cave ready for football watching, but I'll be in charge of any party activities.  I'll be putting out yummy snacks, and you know I have to decorate.  This football season my party table is going to be decked out with this DIY Football Field table runner.  Let me show you how I made it!
To make my table runner, I picked up a few green bath rugs.  I ended up only using 2 rugs for the size of my table though.
They were a little fuzzy, so I used a lint roller before getting started on putting together the table runner.
I used duct tape on the back of the rugs to attach them together.
Then, it was time for the fun part - details!  I used white puff paint to make my rug table runner look like a football field.  To begin, I started with making all of the vertical lines.  A real football field has 21 lines, so that's how many I added to the runner.  To keep my lines straight, I used a ruler as a guide. Based on the size of my runner, I spaced the lines 2 inches apart.
Once all of the lines were done, I added the numbers.  If you are unfamiliar with a football field, 50 goes in the middle and then every other line the numbers will decrease by 10 in both directions.
Lastly I added the yard marks on both the edges of the runner, and 6 inches up from the edges on both sides.  Between each set of lines are (4) yard marks.

And that's it!  This project took me about an hour to put together and I let it dry overnight before handling.  I used roughly 5 ounces of white puff paint to get the details just how I wanted them.
Here's a very short video on making my diy football field table runner.

I'm so excited to throw a party with my new table runner.  But of course I'll need some other stuff for game too.  Fortunately I can get pretty much everything we'll need at CVS.
